The Look

Stephon kissed me in the spring,
Robin in the fall,
But Colin only looked at me
And never kissed at all.

Stephon's kiss was lost in jest,
Robin's lost in play,
But the kiss in Colin's eyes
Haunts me night and day.

-Sara Teasdale

I speak for your dad: Two words - shotgun, shovel.

Oh, it's just a poem, sorry.

Well, we know how he feels about poetry.

I like the structure and writing of this poem very much. I find it tells a deep story without wasting a single word. I am not sure who Sara Teasdale is/was, but my guess is that she is/was a great poet.

Of course, if I knew Sara Teasdale, I would tell her that obsessing for more than, say, a minute and a half over a look she received from some guy is a complete waste of her time, attention and energy, not to mention an insult to her intelligence.

Glad to see you posted again—makes me feel happy. I was worried something was wrong in Denmark.

I took the AP in the spring,
Subjects in the fall,
But the SAT in nine days hence
Is the one that rules them all.

AP credits are good as gold,
Subjects, knowledge they do portray,
But the SAT score etched on my name
Haunts me night and day.

Seriously. It’s just a test; and no test or evaluation devised by man should have any bearing on your self worth.
Love you,

P.S. “The spider weaves the curtains in the palace of the Caesars;
the owl calls the watches in the towers of Afrasiab.” – from some Persian poet, but you guess who repeated it and when [or just cheat and do a Google search]

PMFS: Yes, she was a great poet, but if I remember correctly, she had a pretty sad life.

PMFS again: Awesome poem!!!

Q: I'm glad you liked it as well.
